As of yesterday, I am officially done. Completed my first internship ever with Platinum One Entertainment. It was a three-month event and social media internship based in Sydney, Australia. Unpaid, I drove an hour and a half to and from my internship for a whole three months. (THAT’S THREE, SOMETIMES FOUR HOURS OF DRIVING. AND YES, SOMETIMES MY PLAYLISTS ON MY PHONE GOT VERY BORING) I worked from 9am until 5:30pm on a Wednesday. My job was to log onto their social media to share their gifs, events, flyers, videos, photos and send people messages to get them to come along to their event. I logged onto their different pages and replied to people about bottle service, bookings, guest lists and general information on the event. I also wrapped CD’s and posted them to DJ’s that did gigs at their events so that the DJ’s could hand them out. Oh, I also wrapped posters and sent them to different venues so they could put them up for when the events happened.
The three months honestly went so quickly and looking back it was a great experience and I’m glad that I did it. At the beginning, I wasn’t sure I would do it due to the driving and the fact that it took up my entire Wednesday from 6am to 7pm. I often had an early shift on Thursday or a late Tuesday shift so I didn’t have much time to do much else which is good and bad. Then again, I am an overachiever and love doing anything and everything. Overall, it was a great experience being there and networking with people. I discovered that I don’t want to do that sort of thing and that I would rather create the content my self rather than share content from other people.
I do highly recommend completing internships to find what you are most passionate about. As I said above, I want to create the content not just share it. Anyhoo, I’m off to the gym now before I start another set of overnights at work.
